Flower Thrower - Banksy (2003)
Flower Thrower is a 2003 artwork by Banksy. The subject of the graffiti, a young man, appears to be engaged in a confrontation: he wears a scarf covering his face and is ready to charge, but armed with a bouquet of flowers instead of a molotov. The original black and white work is on the wall of a private building; the only colored element that stands out are the flowers, symbolizing hope against destruction. In the same year of 2003, the construction of the separation wall between Palestinian territories and Israel was completed, a barrier on which Banksy has created several murals over the years. The image, which the artist used for the cover of his book “Wall and Piece” (a collection of his works from 2005), is one of the most reproduced in the form of prints, t-shirts, even tattoos, and of course, graffiti.
