Picazzo, the mad painter! [a.k.a. the man who painted music while listening to the paintings] [19 of 40]
Preview Dream Book - Jim Holland (2000)
The artist Jim Holland lives and works in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The painting is a small oil on canvas, geometric and very simple. A closed window overlooking the ocean, a bed struck by rays of sunlight filtering through the window, an open book, and an alarm clock on the nightstand showing four o'clock. The book seems to have been placed there by someone who clearly was not reading while lying on the bed, as it shows no crease. There’s a slightly perceived surreal sense dictated by two factors: the open book, almost out of place with respect to the scene, and the presence of the clock marking time, almost conjuring the dimension of the real in contrast to this "dream book."
