"Love is the strongest and deepest element in all of life, the harbinger of hope, joy, ecstasy; love defies all laws, all conventions; love, the freest, the most powerful factor of human destiny; how can a force so irresistible be synonymous with that poor little State and the product of the Church, marriage?
Free love? As if love could be anything other than free! Man has bought brains, but all the millions in the world have failed to purchase love. Man has subjected bodies, but all the power on earth has been unable to suppress love. Man has conquered entire nations, but all his armies could not conquer love. Atop his throne, with all the splendor and pomp that his gold can buy, man is still poor and desolate if love passes him by without stopping. Conversely, if it stays, the poorest house is radiant with warmth, life, and color. Thus, love has the magical power to make a beggar a king. Yes, love is free; it cannot dwell in any other atmosphere."
