
This morning, an article from repubblica.it reminded me that I live in paradise!
It’s the most beautiful shot of the year, and Wikipedia has taken notice: the sea crashing against the houses of Polignano has taken first place in the “Wiki loves monuments 2020” competition, Italy section. The author is Nick Abbrey – in real life Nicola Abbrescia – and he triumphed over more than 15,000 images submitted by over 700 competitors. “Wiki loves monuments” is the largest photography competition in the world, involving more than 50 countries, aimed at collecting photographic material documenting cultural and natural heritage, enriching the archives of Wikipedia. The curiosity, however, is another: of the 10 most beautiful photos for Italy, four are from Puglia, and three occupy the highest podium spots.
