Pre-Christmas listening. It is a sacred chant that certainly derives from a monophonic hymn of the late Middle Ages but was composed in the 16th century. In the beginning, there was only the text, which was sung, indeed, to the medieval melody. It expresses (also musically) the solid strength of Thomistic Christian theology, made of certainties of faith and truths based biblically. Medieval Carol 'Gaudete' - Choir of Clare College Cambridge
