Seeing the Battisti case on TV 473 times a day, I can't help but think: "Okay, he killed a police officer (who, given the social tension and urban guerrilla at the time, was in a competition to see who could kill more, amidst terrible management of strikes by the riot police, black and red terrorists...) but most importantly, he killed a jeweler who, poor guy, had nothing to do with politics. But if you read the entire chronicle of the killings (young people from Lotta Continua killed by fascists, those damn missini killed in turn by the baby-eating communist fascists...) you also start to wonder: "What happened to the equally valid attention that other terrorists and executioners deserve?"
Do you know the case of Giannino Zibecchi? In 1977, or thereabouts, during a strike to demand justice for another comrade, Varalli, a wise police van driven by two carabinieri mounted the sidewalk full of people. During a turn to avoid a pole (you know how it is, you're driving up a sidewalk... it’s definitely not as free as the open countryside...) they struck Zibecchi dead. One piece of shit (because that's the only way to define it) carabiniere, seeing Zibecchi's brains splattered, commented: "I didn't think a communist had such a big brain." In 1980, the judges did not charge the two carabinieri with any crime due to lack of evidence. Well, I hope all these executioners cannot live a happy life.
