Alright guys, I'll throw it out there: if I had to rank the best animated series I've ever seen, besides the usual suspects I won't mention, I would definitely include The Venture Bros. For clarification: it's a series that parodies the "adventure" cartoons of Hanna and Barbera (which I haven't actually seen, but you can tell right away). The Super Scientist Dr. Venture, along with his bodyguard and his two stupid sons, has to face off against some ridiculous Supervillains. Each episode is self-contained, but there is a storyline that develops. It’s a bit lengthy, as there are 6 seasons. The animation wasn't exceptional at first (it actually started off in 4:3 about ten years ago), but in the last season it's monstrous. It’s incredibly difficult to understand, and subtitles are hard to find (I don't think even in English). There are tons of cryptic references (I only catch the musical ones, like one time they brought up THE RESIDENTS). The soundtrack is curated by Foetus (you heard that right). Spoiler: the main villain (or good guy?) is David Bowie.
