I don't really like greatest hits or "The Best of ..." collections. Usually, I prefer to have all the albums of an artist and decide for myself what is the best or not, unless I like them so little that I only own "The Best of ...". However, this collection was given to me as a gift, so beggars can't be choosers...
Personally, I own the 1997 version, the one with "Shot In The Dark" instead of "Miracle Man", and the second CD with the interview with Ozzy. The 2002 version has some songs with re-recorded bass and drums, and as previously mentioned, it has "Shot In The Dark" replaced by "Miracle Man". Needless to say, there's nothing much to add about the material present on this disc that hasn't already been said in other reviews. It truly contains the most significant pieces of the madman's history, and I fully agree with the choice of tracks from various albums, except for "I Just Want You". In my opinion, something else could have been taken from "Ozzmosis", and then the unreleased track "Back On Earth", which was originally supposed to appear (if I remember correctly) in the same "Ozzmosis", and in my opinion, it completely clashes with this greatest hits. Additionally, Ozzy offers us Sabbath-worthy tracks on the second CD, rechristened as: "Ozzy's Basement Tapes", and his interview, which I believe few will enjoy since it's in the original language.
In conclusion, this can be a good starting point for those who don't know Ozzy, as it spans his entire career, even by reading the notes for each song listed in the booklet. And if you're a fan, well, what can I say, only great emotions! A solid 5 is deserved here.
