LA RECENSIONE

Catchy melodies, indie-pop sounds, singer-songwriter roots (typically from Genoa) of the not-so-accessible lyrics… almost hermetic and very emotional.

This, in essence, can be used as a calling card for this young quintet from Genoa that is making its debut in the music scene with “Prima di volare via”, their first work and already of the highest level.

The eleven tracks (twelve if you consider the ghost track) swiftly glide by like a sensation, which is no coincidence since that's what the album aims to evoke; in the lyrics we talk about: “vibration beneath the skin”, “the sense of vanity squeezes me”, “pale amazement in me” contrasted with “squalid warmth in me”, “the smell of withered geraniums in me”, “there’s nothing to be done for those who cannot explain with eyes what they think”).

The song lyrics describe moods, speak of reflective introspection, in a hypnotic self-examination and thinking of oneself, built upon elaborate arpeggios of acoustic guitars and simple yet highly effective bass lines, all refreshed and accompanied by sweet and melancholy violin harmonies that soften and sweeten the atmosphere. A technically and stylistically very positive debut for the five Genovese boys.

A must-listen.
