Dear guys, dear comrades, I tell you right away: prepare the helmet and get anything you can to build the strongest armor possible, because there's a battle to face.
And know this: the enemies are tough, genuine pieces of shit, their names are Dave Lisk, Derek Tailer, Ron Lipnicky led by the historical corporals D.D. Verni and especially Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth. If you perhaps believe that the battle is not hard, if you think that after all, you've already faced many such battles, even more difficult ones, you're gravely mistaken.
The battle starts, it begins, and even if at first, you think you might be able to resist ("The Green And Black"), by the second "Ironbound" it's clear that, barring miracles, there'll be no chance for anyone. Resistance is attempted, but one by one you yield to the attacks ("Bring Me The Night", "Give A Little", "The Heart And Heart" and the eloquent "Killing For Living" among the most devastating) of the enemy. But this is not an "endless war" (even if you'll think so at some point...), in conclusion, you find yourself alone, you wake up without strength and look around, you see that only you are left, all your comrades have perished, they didn't make it. You are alive by a miracle, but not for long, "The S.R.C." is the final blow, and you have inevitably bitten the dust as well.
Okay, enough now. Maybe I've exaggerated with enthusiasm and have been quite banal, but the truth is that "Ironbound" is everything you want from a Thrash Metal album: ferocious, hellish, and killer rhythms, fast solos without unnecessary technicalities and with a touch of melody that adds to it, and above all a voice (Blitz's, always a mix between Mustaine Udo and maybe a bit of Bon Scott) nastier and more bastardized than ever. Overkill has (almost) never missed a beat in their long career, but here we are facing one of their absolute peaks, an album that will inevitably leave everyone laid low and exhausted at the end of its 58 infernal minutes.
The battle, which quickly turned into war, is over and left no survivors, the nightmare is over. A nightmare that, however, you would never have wished to end.
Killing for a living, living for a kill!!!
