Melodic hardcore has always been a widely followed genre in Italy, with an impressive number of bands crowding the scene from the '90s to today. Out Of Date can be considered among the flag-bearers of this movement, with more than ten years of honest live activity in Italy and Europe.

Initially starting quietly, the five Milanese musicians have grown over the years, evolving from a decidedly collegiate sound to something more personal and expressive. The culmination of this growth is epitomized today with “Forget To Remember,” a four-track EP that clearly showcases how much this band has matured in various aspects. First and foremost, on the sonic front: after heavily drawing from classic Californian patterns, these artists have finally dared, producing effective riffs and constructing a noteworthy wall of sound. In some respects, one is reminded of the melodic hardcore bands from Northern Europe, capable of injecting emotions into their work while perhaps clashing with what the U.S. firmament demands in terms of melodic hardcore: carefree tracks with repetitive rhythms. Another significantly improved part of the equation is the voice, much more expressive and less monotone compared to previous works. In short, everything seems to be going smoothly in “Forget To Remember,” even the recording, which is clear and professional.

Too bad it's just an EP, a limit that - hopefully - will soon be overcome with a full-length album.
