In 1976, Ornella Vanoni, having founded her own record label, decided to undertake a project with poet Vinicius de Moraes, author of classic bossanova pieces, and singer Toquinho: thus was born this album recorded live (thankfully, to capture pure emotions), rediscovering Brazilian classics magnificently interpreted by Ornella.

It starts with the samba of Senza paura, an exhortation to live, to love, to die with courage; it continues with La Rosa Spogliata where the melancholy of loneliness, abandonment, the end of a unique love lingers "Everything undone, everything finished... the rose has stripped...". It follows with Samba della Rosa and Samba in Preludio where Ornella and Toquinho sing in a duet, as is typical in bossanova songs, with delicacy, with pastel shades of pink, blue, light yellow, beige, and gray, the need to love, the melancholy and they remind us that "life exists, but I am afraid of living without you".

Then there's "a surprise for Vinicius, a Neapolitan samba" Anema e Core that Ornella sings with a grace finally achieved after the mala period, and which she will never abandon again; at this point "goodnight to uncertainty, to problems, to bitterness I feel the carnival coming" with La Voglia La Pazzia which takes us to the sunny beaches of Rio. Have you never encountered someone on the street whom you wanted to love but lost?... and now there remain only words of fear and desire thanks to a Semaforo Rosso.
Assenza: a poem by Vinicius caressed by Ornella's voice, who then merges her voice with Toquinho's to conclude together that "love is an agony... it's a joy and then a cry and then only nostalgia..." in Un altro addio.

Then there's a moment of pure lyricism thanks to the moon, where when I hear this piece I feel nature, the night come to life around me only to thank the "poet poetinho vagabond" for "discovering that living is not about seeking whys but using the mouth, eyes, and heart".
In this album, Ornella reaches a delicacy, a tenderness possessed only by certain great Brazilian singers and the fusion of her voice with Toquinho's is perfect.

Absolutely a must-listen: for those who can be moved, for those who love or have loved.
