THE REVIEW

After talking quite a bit about Techno music and the like, I couldn't not review Orbital.

"Radiccio" is an EP that precedes the so-called "Brown Album," containing one of the duo's and Electronica's masterpieces, the moving and melodic "Halcyon + On + On".

The EP includes the original form simply titled "Halcyon", slightly extended and with immediately compelling rhythms.

A track that in itself needs no big introductions: true Techno, capable of taking you on long journeys to unexplored places (like the stunning "Belfast"). I know I might be repetitive, but it is a track that requires one of my stories: you are at the sea, floating on your back, and at a certain point, you hear the distant start of this song. As the minutes pass, you become more and more in a trance and are levitating. You teleport to the Sahara Desert; it is already night. Then the awakening... thousands of dunes, motionless grains of sand. You lie down on the dry sand. You contemplate the sky as you have never seen it before: with the stars closer than ever.

The journey ends, and the tribal dances of "The Naked And The Dead" begin, from the Sahara Desert to the Voodoo traditions of Haiti, in the Caribbean. Roasted with a good amount of House, it is a track consisting of a piano riff that is nothing short of sinister... a harbinger of death?

And then "Sunday", one of the phantom hidden gems within EPs and singles. A manifesto of Techno music, as only the Hartnoll brothers can do.
