Mississippi Fred McDowell

American blues singer-guitarist born in 1904 in Rossville, Tennessee; moved to Como, Mississippi in the 1940s. Recorded by Alan Lomax in 1959, McDowell became known for his North Mississippi hill country style and searing bottleneck slide. He recorded and performed until his death in 1972.
