Opera IX is an Italian black metal band formed in 1988 (Piedmont). Ossian is identified in reviews as the band's main composer; Cadaveria was a notable early vocalist who left after The Black Opera.

Formed in 1988 in the Piemonte region (Biella/Turin). Reviews note a blend of doom, black and death elements with symphonic/folk keyboards, strong pagan and occult lyrical themes. Cadaveria left after The Black Opera; Ossian is cited as the group's main composer and driving force.

DeBaser reviews praise Opera IX for originality, atmospheric songwriting and a blend of symphonic, pagan and occult black metal. Cadaveria's vocals and Ossian's compositional role are repeatedly highlighted. Recommended albums in these reviews include The Black Opera, Anphisbena and Maleventum.

For:Listeners of symphonic/occult/pagan black metal and fans of atmospheric, female-fronted extreme metal.

Each song on this album is a black pearl, complex, supported by a base of keyboards and synths that perfectly meld with the numerous tempo changes of the guitars and drums, the genre-typical flares, the acidic and well-structured screams of the singer, the then epic, blurred, gloomy and unhealthy moments, although not stereotypical.

I am about to discuss the latter, not only because it's one of my favorite albums, but also because I believe it is the best of their career.

The musical style of these Piedmontese is very original, they are unique in their kind, and I really like this aspect.
