What a difference a day makes,” goes a romantic song by Dinah Washington. And truly, what a difference compared to the performance the day before.

Calmer and therefore more confident, Alessandra Celletti plays her Psalm allowing herself in numerous points to diverge from the CD. As Guido Traversa said in the opening, in creation, everything derives from something else, of which it is a participant but from which it differentiates. This is Alessandra's music and, like God, who created by assigning weight and measure (Wisdom, 11-20), Alessandra follows with care and attention the unfolding of her creation.

The level of this meeting is established by the strong and noble simplicity of the refrain, whose echoes are felt in other moments of this time out of time, lost in the green velvet of a small theater on a quiet street in the heart of Rome. It is a long monologue that Alessandra offers with her heart in hand but with characteristic reserve: rare are the emphases, rare are the moments in which the drama of living is openly revealed. She is like that: she has no secrets (perhaps some, maybe, but of little value), and she does not recognize herself in extreme expressions. Her music, simple yet with wings, concentrates in a beam that delicately illuminates the stage the attention of all 52 listeners (as opposed to the 80 of yesterday, but tomorrow is Easter).

Again, “Raccoglici insieme” stands out as one of the most successful tracks on the CD, acquiring in the live performance the tone of a heartfelt plea. In “Ci legava” I recognize the intervals of Respighi's “Pines” and “Fountains of Rome.” “Ognuno ha steso”, with its characteristic solutions, is almost worthy of “Glassworks”. The red-haired girl presented herself, as yesterday, in a burka (without helmet and visor, though) with iridescent vertical stripes, with an Arab-style bib complete with tassels. The connection to something religious was instant. Feeling more detached, she commented to me, it resulted in a more homogeneous, clearer interpretation. Perhaps. The whole environment was different.

As one exits, there is the sensation of being part of a harmonious whole: the fresh April air, the deep blue of the night, the spirit of this concert felt. Even the round and curious face of the moon peeks out, between roof and roof, asking what happened. For a moment, everything is as it should be, for a moment it is clear to all of us that hope exists, because it has just consoled us for a whole hour. Life is made of moments.
