Omen is an American heavy metal band formed in 1983. They are best known for early albums such as Battle Cry (1984), Warning of Danger (1985) and The Curse (1986), and for vocalist J.D. Kimball, who is frequently singled out in reviews.

Battle Cry was released in 1984 on the Metal Blade label. Reviews compare Omen to Manilla Road and Cirith Ungol. Vocalist J.D. Kimball left the band and died in 2003; Coburn Pharr replaced him on Escape to Nowhere (1988).

Omen is presented as an influential U.S. epic/heavy metal band whose early records (Battle Cry, Warning of Danger, The Curse) are celebrated. Later albums and lineup changes receive mixed-to-negative remarks. Reviewers repeatedly praise J.D. Kimball and Kenny Powell.
