THE REVIEW

Last chapter for Chris Hakius in Om!

Yes, my heart breaks to give this news, poor Al now doesn't know what to do and apologizes to the audience for the canceled dates together with Current 93, but let's get to the album...

Pilgrimage, this magnificent work is opened and closed by the eponymous title track, a very calm and serene composition that makes you think the album could be something to enjoy while lying on cushions on the floor, with the room full of incense, helping you reflect, to imagine a pilgrimage, and yet it's not like that, or rather, the sensations of the track are these, but it also serves as an appetizer and digestif to two big stoner pieces to pump at full volume, to best enjoy the usual hammering of Chris and appreciate Al's ability to always find the right effect in the right piece. In my world, it's Al Cisneros who sets the trends! In "Bhima's Theme" even after about six or seven minutes, the song pauses for a moment, and the silence seems like Al's voice whispering: listen to what I'm organizing for you now!

Four tracks that will help you find the right frequencies, undergo psycho-physical alterations, and then return to normality. An experience...

It's hard now to imagine with whom else Al could find this kind of harmony, but I hope well, he's used to surprising...

Anyway, thank you Chris!

01   Pilgrimage (10:33)

02   Unitive Knowledge of the Godhead (05:51)

Beseech choir through a grey veiled - arrival light.
And weeps no more onto the setting sun where efforts fade.
Suffuse the stream of memories and broken rays as dark recedes.
Transmute now remainder. Old Abydos. Forward the acolyte.
Summits ascendant traveler bows to celestial.
Disembodied legions salute the pilgrim seeker.
Reverentials to Lazarus echoes forth Osiric obelisk.
To leave the reborn form. Rise to freedom.
And posits the sentient onto the Nirvikalpian.
Sheds now the chrom auric shroud of untethered spirit.
Astral preceptors formate in consecration.
Transmits from minaret across beautified dawn.
Visage to auric accordant-form; in reascension.
Emits reverential tears in dhyanic refuge.
Arise perceiver.
Returns to sky; arrive home. Pilgrim seen.
