THE REVIEW

Honestly, I wasn't expecting this Lost Light. After the previous Varietous of..., there had been a stylistic repetition and a dangerous regression, yet our religious friends find, in these lost lights, a new path.
They partially abandon the Capt. Beefheart-style blues, which had captivated in the first albums, in search of a simpler and more linear sound, very close to classic rock, and this is the novelty.

Aaron Hartman and Rives Elliot (double bass and drums) declare their L.L. ideal for your wildest parties, and indeed, there are many tracks that allow for dancing, while Arrington, as usual, continues to spit notes from a very sixties guitar and an off-key sax, while shouting, preaching, bleating, and launching alien yelps... basically everything except singing (the covers and all the internal booklet drawings are his work).

It's hard to explain anything else about Old Time Relijun, a band that absolutely must be listened to in order to understand their madness and originality, perhaps starting with this Lost Light as an appetizer, and moving on (if you like it, and I have no doubt) to the main course, Uterus and Fire (their best work).

Now we await the Olympia trio on European stages, so we can experience their idea of a party!

Summary by Bot

Lost Light marks a stylistic shift for Old Time Relijun, moving away from blues to a simpler, classic rock-inspired sound. The album offers energetic, danceable tracks filled with Arrington's distinctive vocal expressions. It's recommended to listen to this album as an appetizer before exploring their best work, Uterus and Fire. Overall, it's a fresh and original offering from a uniquely mad band.
