The awkward Irish chart climber (by trade) has recently presented his new work to the world (÷). A piece that I like to define as "for everyone," from those hungry for mainstream to those looking for something more. There's a bit of everything in the lyrics too: childhood memories, dedications to grandma, to Ireland, reflections on fame, and tales of great lovemaking. By taking his style to a higher level than that of his previous works, Sheeran has managed to keep his "QuasiFolk" soul intact. Regarding "the sound of the album," I greatly appreciated the quest for a deeper sound compared to the first two albums, which were based almost solely on the "guitar-voice" formula. Despite the excessive presence of ballads and melodramatic pieces, the album flows lightly without being boring, thanks also to the intelligent arrangement of the tracks. Moreover, to give importance to the pieces, the singer-songwriter makes use of solos thanks to a special collaboration. To sum up, I would say that ÷ is somewhat a reflection of today's music, often too light, often so "serious" that it falls into banality. Ed Sheeran's music is a middle ground, somewhat autobiographical, somewhat celebratory, sometimes loaded with intensity and content; it's music that reflects the artist, his personality, and his talent, without overemphasizing him too much.

"And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real
We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill"
