So, I'll start this review with a warning: anyone on this site who is so superficial and stupid to believe that Vaporwave is just a meme, or even just a "fad," get off this page instantly, because I swear, I SWEAR, I'll smash their jaw with a hammer. Behind the 80s stuff, behind the samples, behind many things that form part of Vaporwave (ONE. PART.) there lies a huge world, a meaning and a dystopian critique beyond all limits, and チェスマスター (Chesumasutā) is one of the greatest Vaporwave artists ever to appear on the scene, a creator of a very atmospheric Vaporwave, almost completely devoid of the genre's classic stereotypes, yet absolutely excellent in all other aspects, of which "非実体" ("Hi Jittai") can be considered hands down as the total sublimation of everything. You don't even have time to start the record before the title track (or "kanjitrack?") immediately makes you realize what to expect for all 36 minutes and 50 seconds of the album: cold atmospheres, cyberpunk on full blast, obsessive loops that oppress your brain, ambient and electronic sounds echoing everywhere, Japanese voices in the background, and much more. "非実体" is a record that freezes your soul, freezes your thoughts, you feel downcast, it makes you feel bad, you collapse to the ground in front of the grim vision shown before your eyes: a cold, icy, sterile future, devoid of emotions, where robotics rule, machines rule, and existence becomes nothing more than a cold automatism.
