I will probably go to Cambodia to work in a rice field. But that's fine with me. I had a good time tonight. "Gli O.d.p. are like the early CCCP," they told me. Well, not bad, I think... maybe they'll sound a bit anachronistic... but who cares. Let's go. Let's take the right path.
We make a pit stop at Arci Bellezza, just enough time for a beer "the cheapest one, please" and an Arci membership card. Essential ingredients for the evening. We feel like having a plate of French fries to go with the P. beer with the Italia 90 formation on the label (Schillaci isn't there, unfortunately).
After finishing our snack, we head towards la Casa 139. The place is nice, velvety, at times chic and trendy. Just as I didn't expect it! Gli O.d.p. start with the second Cuba Libre, and euphemisms are everywhere.
On a pounding electronic base full of tasty bass flows the voice of the... singer. The speech begins. The bass fills the space and the guitar paints melodies, compelling. We add another guitar as a special guest... signed Giardini di Mirò. Not bad at all.
Thanks to God, just like in church, we have the leaflet with the lyrics to sing the songs. Slowly I lose track. Slowly I get lost in the words. In the stories. Comedies. Tragedies. Normality. Virginity. Drug addiction. Light drugs. Hard drugs. Toblerones. Death. Happinessiseatingasandwich. Death. Socialism. The singer-speaker is funny. Makes you think. Disgusts you. A grimace of bitterness and anguish mixes with my surface smile.
I try to give a tactical-technical description of the concert-happening-speech:
-music: compelling, at times hypnotic, low.
-singing: a speech, a story, to listen to, to laugh and cry, pounding, personally I am not fond of the "spoken" genre but when you have something beautiful to say... just say it, it doesn't matter how.
-show: engaging, interactive, there are booklets to sing along with the songs, and during the concert, the singer throws precious memorabilia to the sparse audience, like the penguin 'tronkoscky' (or something like that) and even the wafer bars of the same name, made in Czech Rep. Danone.
-place: I expected it to be dirtier. It turns out to be very nice, well made and tasteful, but a bit pricey to be a social center or whatever it is. But so be it.
-Luca: Luca is always there, the hammock entertains him, applause (...).
-post-night: no one cares how much walking we had to do and the people we met on the way, so I won't add anything else.
Well now it's better for me to go. I desist. Because, you know... everything else is desistance. Goodnight.
