Rating: After a very long wait, around 11:00 PM everything begins. As if nothing happened, with the help of simple and seemingly harmless objects, the set is created in an instant. Minimal but incredibly effective. To those already familiar with this brilliant trio's world, everything now becomes evident: the perception is instantaneous and thanks to the presence of a Czech mailbag, a cartoon mole, some smiling and colorful wafer boxes, and a couple of maps of Eastern republics, you are catapulted into the ODP universe with both feet. Now our heroes must only manage the heavy responsibility caused by these premises and by the messages that are known to be subsequently spread: INTER NOS. Before anyone starts accusing the ODP project of being a band of communist propagandists, new CCCP, or anything else, I want to emphasize many, many times that propaganda has nothing to do with this kind of musical discourse.
It is undeniable the presence of a plethora of references to a background steeped and torn by the red past, but this does not affect the proposed message at all. Everything is aimed solely at opening eyes by offering an opinion, measured and matured after their own experiences as leftist militants in Reggio, regarding great themes such as globalization, the average blandness of people, or love. The latter (in De Fonseca) is addressed with irony, elegance, and originality that leaves one astonished, not understanding why success practically never rewards those who deserve it: The curtain rises and as they say... "THEME SONG": Offlaga Disco Pax NEO-SENSIBILIST COLLECTIVE OPPOSED TO DEMOCRACY IN FEELINGS. Moogs and drum machines on the launch pad, the Offlaga Disco Pax peep on stage behind their musical (and not) gadgets and the singer, with an apparent apathy used as a distinctive sign for his vocal tone, begins to reel off the entire repertoire, i.e., the album "Socialismo Tascabile (prove tecniche di trasmissione)." The interaction with the audience is constant and there are frequent high and entertaining moments. Like the launch of precious "ciuingam" following the exhilarating Cinnamon first and the flight of Balkan-invaded Tatranky wafer packets over our heads to draw attention to the homonymous track. With these gestures and with this new type of original show put together, everything seems perfect.
Multimillion-dollar investments for live shows are totally annihilated if you are able to offer the audience something truly innovative and that remains as a vividly clear memory. The references and symbols are countless, it is certainly a type of concert to which one must arrive prepared not to miss any important nuance. But shouldn't music be like this? A commitment made with oneself to improve and share with listeners something that in turn can lubricate some gear you have but don't know about, perhaps rusted for too long. Intellectual growth? There is no need to be over fifty to be ultra-conservative: it can also be a problem to be 25 years old and wait with bated ears for the arrival of Avril and Good Charlotte. The reason? Those who have ears to understand... Again, as they say... Offlaga Disco Pax EVERYTHING ELSE IS RESISTANCE original and majestic
