Active for only five months (yes, you read that right, five months), the Treviso-based band Off The Air waste no time and after their first live performance at New Age in Roncade, here comes “Beyond The Butterfly Effect”, an EP of five tracks that is overall pleasant and successful.
Alternative pop-rock, that's how their offering could be defined, rooted in what is trending nowadays in the main US charts with a high dose of catchy melodies and easily memorable verses. You may be thinking: same old, same old. In some ways, definitely yes, considering the number of Italian bands in the genre, it becomes immediately clear how difficult it is to surprise today. And so, if the surprise factor can no longer be guaranteed, there's room for professionalism and good tracks, elements that Off The Air have encapsulated in this mini-album, where rock often embraces melodic hardcore with decidedly satisfactory results. "Fireburn" and "Nocebo" are clear examples of the good work done by these guys, perhaps still budding in terms of songwriting but undoubtedly worthy of attention from those accustomed to listening to All Time Low and similar bands.
For a debut step on the discographic scene just a few months after the project's inception, we can say we are facing a project with a purpose; now, however, let's get on with the debut album.
