THE REVIEW

I didn't know Of Montreal, I had heard their name mentioned sometimes in a few magazines, I remember that Beirut cited them as one of his main influences, but I had never listened to them. And neither have you, judging by their total absence from this site.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, I saw one of their videos on TV, and they really impressed me. The single "Heimdalsgate Like A Promethean Curse" is one of those that you like from the first listen: a simple and linear melody supported by an arrangement that is nothing short of extravagant and flavored with electro-pop sounds that at times remind me of my old Nintendo.
And that's nothing; listening to the album, you can't help but be amazed at how these guys, who are quite experienced as they already have 7 albums, manage to transform blatantly pop pieces in such a way as to make them extravagant and never banal.

Indeed, it seems like listening to the Beatles disassembled and reassembled by a drunken child passionate about electronic games.
