Obscura is a German technical death metal band led by Steffen Kummerer, known for technically advanced, progressive death-metal albums including Cosmogenesis, Omnivium and Akróasis.

Cosmogenesis featured lineup additions including guitarist Christian Muenzner and drummer Hannes Grossmann (both former Necrophagist) and bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling (from Pestilence), a change credited in reviews with increasing the band's technical skill and progressive scope.
