Two enormous cooling towers from which a river of steam emerges: radioactive or non-radioactive?
A malevolent grin in the air, uranium, plutonium, thorium, decay chains. Alpha rays, beta rays, gamma rays. They don't care about your skin color, whether you are rich or poor, they penetrate you naturally and then it's your problem. If the core melts, it's a big mess.
It’s the price to pay to keep the world running, to keep it running in the way that's been established.
However, not everyone agrees, there are still those who have the strength to make their voices heard, to express dissent. Dan Lilker did it with his Nuclear Assault, a creature born after his departure from Anthrax, a thrash metal band, but also a hardcore band, in short, for label lovers, a thrashcore band. East coast thrash was different from the west coast, hardcore was in the DNA of New York musicians.
“Survive” is a slap in the face lasting half an hour, a smack that aims to shake spirits. Sandpapered riffs merge with rowdy and defiant choruses that scream at everyone to wake up from their lethargy, to start thinking for themselves. The adrenaline is always high, moving from short songs around two minutes to very short songs, the proto-grindcore “PSA” (did someone say Brutal Truth?) lasts just a few seconds. The only exception is the Led Zeppelin cover (“Good Times, Bad Times”) placed at the end.
In the end, the important thing is to survive.
