When They Ask Me Where You Are is the title of the new album by the Treviso-based post-rock band Novalisi. The short album consists of five substantial songs, each containing variations and changes, making the listening experience particularly intense and profound, and immersed in an atmosphere of angry melancholy. This aspect is reinforced by the band's Italian lyrics, which tie the tracks together in a kind of concept album, representing five episodes of a separation chronicle. Completely self-produced and recorded in an alternative way for rock music, using only iPhones and iPads, When They Ask Me Where You Are proves to be a wintry album, perhaps a bit dark, at its best represented by the melodic intersections of the guitars and the solidity of the rhythm section.
