THE REVIEW

BOREDOM “ZZZ” JONES

- Hey Assjd, what's new?
- Nothing today, just Glaudio Bajoni, Laura Bausini, Baris Hildon and Nora Gions…
- Let me see this Nora… mmmh, what’s she like?
- I don’t really know… to me, it’s crap… but everyone has their tastes… it’s a varied world. .
- Hang on, I’ll put it in the car stereo and see if it works …
- Go ahead… no problem, amigo Lesdo! Hey, who’s there… hello brigadier!!
- Heyheyhey good morning Assjd, how are we?!
- Not much selling today, little new music…
- Give me a bit of that Nora Gions disc …
- Wait a moment, Lesdo has it… he's making a goddamn solid review for debbaser!
- Hello Brigadier, give us a moment, we’re listening to "Not too late" by Norah Jones live, you don't mind, do you? I'll turn up the speakers a bit… there
- Hey hey…old Lesto Bang, how much do you annoy with your bullshit, eh? Always talking crap left and right
- Ehh, brigadier… if I don’t do it, it’s all a charade of flattery and genuflections! So listen here…the first track is pretty anonymous, I’d say…what do you say, brigadier?
- Yeah, whatever, it’s good it’s good…slow, fairly standard…nothing special!
- Yes but, let’s be serious… listen to the second and third tracks…
- Let me read the cover… “Sinkin’ soon” and “The sun doesn’t like you”, right?
- Well done, brigadier… now honestly tell me… don’t they seem a tad repetitive?
- But…isn’t the CD defective?! Hey Assjd, what crap are you trying to sell me?!
- No no, they’re good discs… it’s exactly the record that’s all the same!
- So, brigadier, this girl is cashing in big time… she found the “standard” formula, decent work and all that crap but …
- Hey hey friend Lesto, don’t always split hairs… the album is what it is… relaxed, standard pop-jazz with nothing weird or risky… you put it on and it runs as smooth as a baba!
- Yes yes, sure… but I’m criticizing the intentions and the result: a buttery album dripping with syrup from all sides, under the guise of jazz-pop even though many call it an “artistic consolidation record” as if to say… we’re still waiting for THE real album… but according to you… I mean…
- Hey hey, talking to me?!
- Friend, you talking to whom?
- Yes yes, I’m talking to both of you… but do you think: was there really a need for such a record?! Isn’t there already a ton of similar stuff? What the hell does this Norah Jones want to tell us with these cute but ultimately unremarkable songs?! At least in previous albums there were covers which are missing here (they are instead written together with the sleep-inducing guitar of Lee Alexander)… so, I mean, come on… She seemed the great New Promise of new American Folksinging and instead …
- Hey hey, what the hell are you saying?! Folksinging?! Are you blaspheming now?!
- No, listen here to the other tracks… “Until the end” and “not my friend” and you tell me if they don’t sound like clones of the other songs… very low-profile arrangements (which wouldn’t even be a “minus”) but unfortunately all damnably identical… with this voice in the end always cute but monotone and always set on the same two tones!
- Wow Lesto, you’re such a PAIN IN THE ASS! And don’t worry about what she wanted to say: do you like the disc?! If you like it you take it, if not leave it be… period and that’s that! How much you critics are always criticizing…
- Ok, then I’ll just leave it be … here you go Assjd, take back this CD because the brigadier has made me lose the desire today…
- Oh, good for you, Lesto, hand it over to me instead… pass me that Nora Gions!
- Excuse me brigadier, not to mind your business but isn’t it illegal to buy pirated CDs from Moroccans?!
- Hey LestoBang… tread lightly with the jokes… meanwhile you're offending my friend Assjd who’s from Ghana and not Morocco, right Assjd?
- Exactly, to me Moroccans all piss me off!!
- And second: don’t you think I actually pay for it, right Assjd?
- Right is right, if I make the brigadier pay now how the hell do I stay calm here in front of the SMA selling pirated CDs and DVDs?
- Ohhhh see we understand each other? good for my Assjd, by the way along with Nora Gions also give me RockyBalboa, I’ll gift it to my nephew… oh, in three days I’ll return them to you eh?!
- Chill brigadier… if you want you can have them for free, in fact, if you need anything else just ask me!!*

*) Affectionately dedicated to Assjd and Brigadier A. R. whom I meet almost every Saturday afternoon outside the SMA in Monte Verde, Rome.

Summary by Bot

The review of Norah Jones' album 'Not Too Late' describes the music as smooth and laid-back jazz-pop but criticizes its repetitiveness and lack of artistic risk. While the vocals are pleasant, they remain monotone and the songs blend too similarly. The reviewer questions the necessity of the album, suggesting it offers little new and relies on a formulaic approach.

The heart of Not Too Late revolves around the first single Thinking Of You preceded and followed... by two gems such as Not My Friend and Broken.

After listening to Not Too Late, one can understand... why this petite girl of Indian descent... has achieved such success.
