THE REVIEW

A year after Recoil, here is the new work by Nonpoint, which I won't hide I was waiting to listen to and see what directions they had taken after the successful predecessor. A short intro and the journey of our Friends begins with "Bullet With A Name", a good opening track in line with what we had been accustomed to by Elias and company, "mmh, it seems interesting..." you think when "There's Going To Be A War" arrives, and you listen amused to a band that up until that point, even with the old albums, impresses you not so much for the old Nu-metal formula (and I believe it..) but for the freshness of the melodic parts and catchy easy-to-assimilate elements exactly like the captivating "The Wreckoning", a synthesis of all that has been said so far.. But boredom lurks around the corner, unfortunately..

"Alive and Kicking" reeks of Linkin Park in the chorus from a kilometer away and is quite embarrassing, "Explain Yourself" has trumpets within, a new element, but its structure is too similar to previous songs, nothing impressive or particularly fun, in short, "Buscandome" then should be the new "Rabia" with the chorus sung in Spanish but it clearly falls short.. another filler is the song that gives the album its name, and after seven songs, it's clear that this "To The Pain" is similar, too much so, if not even a copy of Recoil to which, compared to the excellent predecessor, lacks the melodic appeal of a vocalist who in this latest album is dealing with dull and somewhat insignificant screamed parts amidst the myriad already heard... but we are halfway through, and the album drags on towards the instrumental "Ren-dish'en" and reaches "Explain Myself" and "Skin". and I'm tempted to press stop on the player because the similarity in the song structures is apparent and does not excite as one might have expected...

In summary, Nonpoint simplifies their songwriting style, "To The Pain" is the screamed and angry album (i.e., the boring album with sounds you've already heard 1000 times) that, after Recoil, you don't expect and disappoints.

Summary by Bot

Nonpoint's 'To The Pain' follows their successful 'Recoil' but fails to impress. The album repeats familiar nu-metal sounds with less melodic appeal. The vocals lean heavily on screaming, and many songs feel like fillers. Overall, it disappoints fans expecting growth or innovation.
