THE REVIEW

"It's the N-O-N P-H-I-X-I-O-N..."

Year 2002: after numerous 12" releases comes the first, true debut album of Non Phixion, "The Future Is Now". Originally from New York, Non Phixion have actually been on the scene since the mid '90s, but due to bureaucratic issues, their album has been postponed several times. Overcoming label troubles, they finally release their debut on Uncle Howie, a label they themselves created, under the motto "if you want something done right, do it yourself": a surely winning motto, as "The Future Is Now" is a great album that fully represents classic New York underground, but with pleasant innovations.
Alongside the rhymes of ILL BiLL, Sabac Red, Goretex and the scratches of DJ Eclipse, we find, in fact, great producers like Necro (ILL BiLL's brother), Large Professor, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Dave One, and Juju from the Beatnuts, who contribute to the creation of a very powerful sound, a true tribute to the NY underground.
Therefore, it's impossible not to appreciate amazing tracks like "Futurama", "The CIA Is Trying To Kill Me" (mega-beat by Necro), the single "Rock Stars" produced by DJ Premier, and then, further on, the magnificent "Black Helicopters", "It's Us", "We Are The Future", up to the crossover conclusion of "The CIA Is Still Trying To Kill Me" with Fear Factory and Steph from the Deftones...

Nothing else to say, therefore, except to recommend the blind purchase of "The Future Is Now" to all lovers of true rap and even to those who hate the aforementioned genre, to understand that "rap" is not only Nelly or MTV videos, but also a respectable artistic and cultural expression, of which Non Phixion are surely great exponents.
