THE REVIEW

The last album where you can hear the voice of Augusto Daolio, the undisputed leader of the group, who for years has marked Nomadi's discography with his very distinctive tone. The CD will be released about a year after his death.

An album of mainly anti-military character, it opens with the song that gives its name to the album: "Contro," a beautiful track that talks about war, governments, and the will of those who do not give in, in a direct and touching way: "Against those who speak of brotherhood, love, and freedom, and then finance wars and atrocities." Next is "Il muro," which talks about the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of an era. "Marinaio di vent'anni," a Nordic legend of the flying Dutchman, describes an age, as the title says, the twenties or thereabouts, where life, everything you have ahead, becomes an adventure, the desire to travel to discover new worlds. Also very beautiful is "Santina," the story of a child, a life broken by drugs. "Il Mongolo," with a flute intro, follows with very cheerful music; a man can be seen in many ways, but his personality does not change. These songs, seemingly easy to understand, carry deep morals inside, a testament to humanity like "Pietro," a song that briefly describes today's world, a world without morals or basic principles where only those who find themselves on the margins of society can understand and preserve them, just like "Il libero," where normality and madness are meaningless, except for those who want to be themselves, not accepting a different life, different from their ideals. You might say, so it's a CD with only anti-military and social notions. The eighth song, "Soltanto un gioco," instead decidedly detaches from these topics, talking instead about love and passion; while love can be considered a game, true passion is a trace that will stay with you forever, even originating from adolescence. The album closes with the track "Ad est, Ad est" where the group invites to broaden horizons, to discover new civilizations, cultures, etc., like that of the East, with an ethnic style music background with beautiful instruments.

This is the end of an album, an era; Augusto dies, but the group's adventure will continue.

Nomadi

Nomadi are an Italian music group founded in the early 1960s, strongly associated with vocalist Augusto Daolio and keyboardist Beppe Carletti. The reviews emphasize their long live activity, socially engaged songwriting (often connected to Francesco Guccini’s lyrics), and a continued career through major lineup changes after Daolio’s death.
