Very strange. That's how I would define Noli Me Tangere, a very young power trio who, in their debut album "Near," create such a sonic chaos that they make five/six-member bands pale in comparison.

They are not a band we could call trendy (I'd say in no way, and no offense to them, but they don't even have a sex symbol for a poster in Cioè), let's just say that they know their stuff, play by devastating instruments, and probably even the auditory system of those who have never faced them before. An apparently senseless destructive force that finds its destination in "Near," with nine songs ranging from screamo to math without losing a shred of intensity throughout its duration.

The fact that they have a well-structured studio production behind them makes it all the more enjoyable, presenting us with an album that I would describe as at least curious and, in some respects, original to listen to in its entirety. We are not talking about a mainstream band, and this is very clear even to those directly involved, who, at peace with the idea of selling just a handful of copies, have done what every underground band should do: pick up their instruments and have fun.

It doesn't really matter whether you're a phenomenon or not, the important thing is to unleash your feelings, and if these are those of Noli Me Tangere, well, you are definitely strange types! (in a good way, of course). "Misery" and "Ichabod" are two concrete examples of such youthful exuberance, fast and annoying enough to love them by the fourth second or to turn everything off and move on. A great job for sick minds, horrible for most people; what a hard life "Near" will have. Personally, thumbs up!
