"I'm feeling supersonic

This is a "metareview" (or if you prefer, a half-review).
Let me preface by saying that I have never been a fan of Oasis, but the first two albums (especially the singles "Supersonic" and "Wonderwall"), all things considered, I don't even mind now.
One of the most amusing definitions of the "Fckin'Menchestr" band I heard from a guy (whose name I don't even remember) years ago: "Oasis is the classic band liked by the Wannabe-but-can't: those who love the stereotypes of Rock (Excess, Sex, Drugs, etc., N.d.R.) written in music magazines but don't even have the courage to see a joint roll".
Obviously, I don't agree: it's an all too dismissive generalization, and I don't see anything courageous about preparing a joint, but it stuck with me, and I wanted to share it because the point lies elsewhere...
Last Sunday, Noel "performed" (in playback but it seems imposed by RAI: hence the quotation marks) on Fazio, and I didn't even know (I usually don't follow the show and "recently" I only watched Metallica's performance with Lou Reed, changing the channel after a few seconds because I was embarrassed for them...). I found out today through this article which reports this post from ours.
Post where he complains about the show, the host, the environment, basically everything.
The performance (and the interview) I went to watch on the RAI website (I'll post it in the Info of the review) and I don't have much to say: the usual "spiel" for the generalist TV target. I'll just say this because, as mentioned, this is a "metareview", but reflecting on the event, the question I can't get out of my head isn't so much about the intrinsic artistic value of the thing but the motivations.
Question I turn to you: in this era and for a performer who has reached a certain level of popularity (and I could expand to others, like Metallica and Reed themselves) does it make sense (and which, if it exists) to go on shows like "Che tempo che fa"?
