THE REVIEW

End of 2009 - The No Age are back, with a small four-track EP. And maybe they could have just stayed home.

For those still unfamiliar with them, they are an American duo dedicated to the exaggerated celebration of sounds belonging to a certain type of early '90s noise-pop/indie-rock.

After their last Long Playing - "Nouns," dating back to 2008 and released by SubPop - in which, although not adding anything particularly new to the aforementioned movement, they managed to offer a clumsy revival that compensated charm and energy simultaneously, they return with sounds - momentarily? - more softened and calibrated (with the exception of "You're a Target", characterized by an already familiar melody). Nothing indispensable. But this EP also turns out to be all in all pleasant. The hints of roughly experimental strokes are not missing ("Aim at the Airport"), nor the captivating track of the moment (the self-titled "Losing Feeling").

It should be noted how, in a little over fourteen accessible minutes, the essence (damn, it's snowing!) of their existence updated to today is summarized and well packaged.

In short, I have to admit I started off on the wrong foot and reevaluated it while writing. Yes, because, despite everything, it is a small calling card, as well as a good synthesis of their sound, recommended to genre enthusiasts and ideal for those who want to briefly get an idea and/or understand more.

No Age are an American duo from Los Angeles formed in 2005 by Randy Randall (guitar) and Dean Allen Spunt (drums, vocals). Emerging from The Smell’s DIY community, they fused noise rock, punk energy and shoegaze textures across key releases on Sub Pop and later Drag City.
