What can I say: this album is truly a gem!!! It represents a precious chest in which a dreamy and forgetful universe encloses the best of Nirvana's production in a melodic key. The excessive punk-influenced screeches that characterize the sound of the three Seattle boys are completely nullified here, giving way to a magical, disorienting, and very sweet atmosphere.
The listener is gradually captivated by the simple chords of the acoustic guitars, by Kurt Cobain's heartbreaking and melancholic voice, filled with anger and deep pain. They are progressively enveloped by the refined and intense melodies of the songs that, finally stripped of every more extreme aspect of grunge and every raw legacy of punk-rock tradition, reveal themselves in all their beauty, in all their restored value.
Kurt Cobain's voice is unmistakable, and the skill of Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl in long and engaging guitar solos is admirable: an absolutely unmissable album, one that all music lovers absolutely must listen to in order to discover an unusual and unexpected guise of the historic band in pieces like "About a Girl", "Come as You Are", and "All Apologies".
Chills. Magical chills. The emotions Cobain provides with his "live" voice are indescribable.
The atmosphere this album creates is magnificent. It moves, it gives peace, and at times it almost seems as if Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, and Krist Novoselic are in front of you, tracing note by note the path to Nirvana...
Perhaps the most beautiful live album in the history of music.
Cobain’s voice is always at the forefront, especially in the final masterpiece, 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night.'
The emotion of that live is tied only to our selfishness, to our over-excited imagination, to the unconscious impulse of wanting to create myths.
Cobain doesn’t look at you, he shuns the camera, drinks tea. Discomfort, boredom, embarrassment. Anything but poetry and emotion.
