Let's start by saying that this album is the remix of "Broken", an EP composed of 6 tracks plus 2 ghost-tracks. This reimagining, on the other hand, consists of 6 tracks but this time they are actual tracks. Let's talk about the thing that immediately catches the eye, namely the artwork. It's well-crafted but essential, beautiful in colors yet not overdone. Inserting the CD into your player, it kicks off with "Gave Up" remixed by Coil with the support of Danny Hyde. The first two minutes are almost restful, then the industrial fury begins, which is truly frightening but at the same time beautiful. I believe it is the best track of the entire EP. "Wish" is handled by J. G. Thirlwell. There wasn't much work done on this track; it's similar to the original version except it hits four times as hard. "Happiness in Slavery" is remixed by Reznor himself with past friend Chris Vrenna and P. K. It is rich in original arrangements and very well done. Then it's the turn of "Throw This Way", once again assembled by the renowned duo Reznor-Vrenna, with none other than Butch Vig contributing... the best will know who he is. "Fist Fuck" is a song with very tribal rhythms, truly a piece that almost diverges completely from the Nine Inch Nails we know, but that's the beauty... The beauty that every record by Trent's band always surprises us. The mini-masterpiece closes with "Screaming Slave", which is actually "Happiness in Slavery" once again, but with a changed title first and foremost. This song features many contributors: Reznor, Vrenna, Kennedy, Beavan, Brumbach, Flanagan. In this closing piece, we return to the rage and perversion that NIN has accustomed us to. In the interlude, you can even hear a man under torture...

Admittedly, I hate remixes, the reinterpretations of individual tracks and things of that kind, but for Mr. Self-Destruct, I make an exception. You should too.
