A Manchester quartet led by Sam Forrest, Nine Black Alps moved from abrasive, grunge-tinged rock toward a more melodic post-grunge sound on their second album Love/Hate (2007). Produced by Dave Sardy, Love/Hate emphasizes melody while retaining a grungy patina. Singles highlighted include "Bitter End" and "Burn Faster". The band supported major acts (Weezer, Kaiser Chiefs) and played major UK festivals.
