THE REVIEW

The Nikki Puppet do what they can... And it seems evident when listening to their second album, after the debut ("Puppet On A String") two years ago.

The technical skills are limited and the sonic inventiveness is nonexistent; moreover, you are faced with a group that makes the iteration of others' stylistic elements its own expressive mark and possesses truly poor musical writing. The eleven tracks try to satisfy the palate of those who have in their hearts the heavy-influenced hard rock and metal that is generally classic with some insignificant modernist tendencies, melodic appeal, and pathetic songs.

The fact that they are a "female fronted band" doesn't help them, as a female presence (modest...) will certainly not save "Militant Mother".

What is unheard of, besides being seriously concerning, is the fact that there is a label (specifically Armageddon Music) that had the courage to release such an album.

Summary by Bot

Nikki Puppet's second album 'Militant Mother' struggles with limited technical skill and uninspired songwriting. The band leans heavily on well-worn hard rock and metal tropes without offering innovation. The presence of a female vocalist does little to elevate the lackluster material. Overall, the album fails to impress and raises questions about its release by Armageddon Music.
