During the 60s, when Italy was swept up in the frenzy of the boom, the new dances from across the ocean, the twist, the screamers, new cultural styles, sex-symbols, the ye-ye mania, Latin lovers in search of foreign women, many Bruno Cortonas from the film "Il sorpasso," there were also those who experienced this period almost intimately, wrapped in solitude. One of these was Nico Fidenco, a melancholic singer who looked more to France than America, an heir of our musical tradition, of those songs played in dance halls in pairs, embraced with the beloved woman. A bit like the face of those who stay outside the ongoing changes and prefer to maintain their stylistic composure, focusing on feelings. Memorable are his songs, which have rightfully entered among the best in Italian music, with that velvety voice, between moving ballads and poetic flashes, one of the few artists I admire.

Perfect is "Legata a un granello di sabbia" a sweet dedication of love, one of the most beautiful ever written, the choice to keep with oneself a part that has become important, beautiful the description, the woman and nature. Not to be outdone is "Come nasce un amore" which brings the described story to life, the words we all want to say, expressed in music, there's nothing more poetic, how I would love to look into the eyes of the woman I love, with this song on the stereo, I am sure that in the end, she will fall into my arms. But our collection fortunately does not end here, there are other pearls like "Goccia di Mare" and "A casa di Irene", even moments of joy though veiled, as in the famous "Con te sulla spiaggia", a gift to the holiday season, when we fall in love with someone and at the end of the summer there is a bittersweet feeling.

Nico Fidenco gave us memorable songs, his excellent choice to represent feelings, to describe the sufferings of love. A good refined author of our music, which today sounds so retro, as soon as you hear it, it resonates with this representation of the beautiful 60s, and of the other Italy, that of feelings, of poetry, enveloped in its hope, of vacations by the sea, not in search of conquests, but in search of the right woman to live with for a lifetime.
