And what if songwriters still existed? The ones with a capital "S", I mean. I wouldn't be surprised if most of you thought so after carefully listening to this masterpiece.

Exposing the soul with class, this is what the long-haired Niccolò Fabi managed to do in this circumstance, starting from the cover where various personalities are depicted through a succession of silhouettes different in colors and shapes, moving from the external warmth, warm, strong relationships with the surrounding environment and the sensations experienced by the skin and flesh, up to the cold unknowns of the soul.

After an assiduous listening to Italian songwriting, from the great historical names to the less dated ones (De Andrè, De Gregori, Conte, Fossati, Dalla, and Gazzè, Bersani, Testa, etc.) I take the responsibility to define this album as one of the best of the last fifteen years for its poetry, dialectics, style, balance between complexity and simplicity, personality and music. The title is "Solo un uomo", highlighting from the very beginning the willingness to tell oneself completely open to the world, already from the first line of the title track Niccolò sings: "E' solo un uomo quello di cui parlo...del suo interno...come del suo intorno...".

It continues with nine more tracks each full of taste, of that flavor of guitars and wood which immediately calls for a burning fireplace, autumn, hot chestnuts, a blanket able to warm, rediscovering old flavors now lost in the speed of everyday life.

Niccolò offers us numerous outbursts and points of reflection, pearls that speak to us once again of love as if it had never been spoken of in a song.

How existence and the conception of things change when you receive the gift of a child in "Attesa inaspettata". The disgust towards the inert in "Parole che fanno bene", "parlo per me...per il mio paese...per quella parte che tace e non dice...che gli soffoca in gola uno strillo...per lo sgomento...di uno spettacolo indegno...per cui paga e non ha scelto".

The beauty of being able to look at society as if watching it from a cloud and therefore completely estranging oneself to ask whether it is right to be "Fuori o dentro" to truly understand one another.

One of the most beautiful love songs ever is contained in this small space of jewels "La promessa" by Niccolò does justice to "La cura" by master Battiato with drums managing the heartbeats of every fortunate listener. "Successo" is a reflection on the state of things, fame is a feeling as well as any object can easily become an emotion; it’s all in people's heads "e poi basterebbe...fare ciò che si è scelto...".

No fillers but only pure emotions, even when it seems to fly over the cities of the world in "Aliante" or when expressing with extreme sincerity the feeling of annoyance towards those who do not respect us in "La mia fortuna".

In short, a complete work, rich with all the right ingredients to call it a masterpiece, the sense of musical flatness that characterizes some of today's productions is just a distant memory, there is no shortage of spaces for guitar virtuosos, violins, and very distinctive vocal extensions.

To keep forever close... One of those works that today's generation of twenty-year-olds could proudly speak of in old age with their grandchildren. And to think that radio, TV, and press seem to have noticed nothing, what can be said, but to get warm by this magic during the next theater tour dates.

Below is the link of the track "Fuori o dentro", truly enjoy...

Niccolò has crossed the fateful threshold of the 'forties' and has even started a family, and this milestone is put to music in a small masterpiece of intimacy named 'Attesa e inaspettata.'

Words that do good are those written by Niccolò, who after three years gives us his most heartfelt, most thought-out, and most sincere album.
