When you read this review, the band in question might no longer exist. New Street Adventure, in fact, will play their last concert on the upcoming January 26th.
The collective founded in 2007 by Nick Corbin, which takes its name from a Birmingham metro stop, after the great success of the 2012 single "Hangin' On/Hangin' Up" and the signing with the prestigious Acid Jazz, has released two studio albums, the last of which, "Stubborn Sons", was released in 2017.
With the icons of David Bowie and Paul Weller always in their pockets, the English combo managed in a few years to gain a circle of admirers among the lovers of the so-called british soul. This second work, recorded in London, certainly does not shine, like the previous one for that matter, for originality but it is capable of offering, along its pleasant ten tracks, everything you would expect: from the urban funk of "Why Should We Do Anything?" and the working class invective of "Hard Living (No Easy Way Out)" to the acoustic sweetness of ballads like "Smooth Talker" and "Can't We Just Be Friends".
If you missed them and if you love or have loved the Style Council, this is a band absolutely worth rediscovering, certain that Nick Corbin will still give us new adventures.
