A gun will not save my soul..so says the inside of the third New Bomb Turks album, the first produced by the small but mighty hardcore-punk label Epitaph.

And, as usual, neither will we be saved from their sound made of many hyper-speed Stooges, spiced with a pinch of blues, a handful of garage, and an enticing sax that particularly shapes the last track "Wrest Your Hands," an unmissable tribute to the Stones' "Gimme Shelter".

Rolling Stones have been covered multiple times in their career within an infinity of singles, splits, collections, and compilations alongside other seminal bands like Aerosmith, New York Dolls, or Queers, just to give an idea of their influences and tastes.

Compared to the past, the album appears more easily accessible than usual, perhaps thanks to the cleaner production than ever before, and flows seamlessly without a break with tracks like the opener "Hammerless Nail" (an instant classic), through moments of pure rock'n roll fun (see the party-like and catchy "Look Alive Jive"), only partially slowing down with the final dyad "Telephone Numberrr" in Ramones style and the aforementioned "Wrest Your Hands".

A definite confirmation, perhaps with fewer gems but with many fun and energetic songs, reaffirming one of the best punk realities of the 90s made in the U.S.A.
