I couldn't help but review this album, Whoa. Nelly!, the first by Furtado; it was released in 2000, a very lucky year for Nelly as she won the title of best emerging artist of the year and earned four nominations at the MTV Music Awards, winning the Grammy for her single that made her famous worldwide: i'm like a bird.

This is a very original album, full of freshness and good musical research... within it, we can notice two singles: scared of you, onde estàs, through which Furtado wants to remind us of her gypsy and Portuguese origins, as these two tracks are sung in Portuguese.
The most significant songs on the album are certainly i'm like a bird, her big hit, turn off the light which follows it, another very original song composed of very particular sounds and melodies; also legend, a very interesting single with Brazilian rhythms and melodies and a very meaningful text, also party which is number 8 on the album, is a very original song full of energy and charm, where Nelly continuously modulates her beautiful voice.

As a first work, Whoa. Nelly! was truly a good album, which for the copies sold was even named a platinum record!
Well done Nelly.
