Active since 2007 with a self-produced release behind them, the Varese-based Nekrosun come into the open with "The Grace Of Oxymoron," signed by the Venetian label Crash And Burn. Compared to many debutantes, the six musicians demonstrate confidence and great instrumental mastery from the outset, elements that inevitably influence the good outcome of the album, with a medium-high quality level. "The Grace Of Oxymoron" is indeed a very varied work both in terms of sound and mood: elegance, anger, class, and brutality find the right spaces within the nine songs, creating atmospheres that are, if nothing else, very diverse. Musically speaking, there is no predominant genre (hence the definition given by the band themselves "Unlimited Metal"), which allows them to move freely in contexts ranging from heavy metal to prog, from power to death without falling short. Just listen to tracks like "When A Fallen Arises", "My Dark Babylon" and "The Lilium I Loved" to understand the amount of elements incorporated into the DNA of this project, well beyond expectations and in some ways courageous.

Courageous in its search for seldom-used solutions (but not lacking charm), for its departure from trends and clichés that are especially popular among debutants. However, the surprises don't end here, as we find Alberto Bernasconi on vocals, a writer poet/operatic singer who has contributed much of his own in terms of lyrics and voice. The concept of "The Grace Of Oxymoron" focuses on the idea of the great allure in the union of opposites and how they coexist in everyday life. A stormy sea of conflicting feelings and emotions, all narrated in an almost poetic guise and characterized—vocally—by the continuous lyric/growl dualism. A complex and at the same time tremendously fascinating product, certainly not immediate (to fully enjoy it more listens are needed) but rich in unusual nuances. The production entrusted to Nick Savio (former guitarist of White Skull) is overall satisfactory. If you love the more extravagant and particular side of metal, Nekrosun might be a pleasant surprise.
