After listening to many genres, one fine day while I was listening to street core stuff like Casualties, one of their songs came on... and dio duce. I developed an almost obsessive fascination with the Danish band, a genre I had only heard of. The song that randomly played was the one that gives its title to the album. If you're not really paying attention, they might seem like just another psychobilly band, indeed nothing revolutionary if it weren't for the dark air, full of the smell of sulfur found in the atmospheres of the early albums. The lyrics draw from, like all the best or worst of the genre, horror themes, but while with other artists of the genre you sense a playful vibe, here everything is "serious." It's almost like a dark cult professing its psycho creed and religion. From the first to the last track, it's a macabre cauldron and I don't find it hard to elevate them as the best in the genre. "Save My Grave" starts with some double bass notes, but not plucked as is usual in the genre, but played with a bow, creating a sick intro interrupted by a thunderstorm and immediately the leader puts down the bow and plucks the strings of his Coffin Bass, producing a werewolf groove under mescaline. If you want music that's fun yet fascinatingly gloomy, this is for you.
