Black.
Dark as their sound, absolutely inimitable.
This is how the artwork of Necrodeath's collection presents itself: 20 Years of noise 1985-2005, a detail that effectively encapsulates the entire philosophy of the Italian band: pure dedication to the darkest thrash/black metal, without compromise and without frills.
Twenty years have passed since four boys from Genoa, full of anger and love for heavy metal, picked up their guitars to create what is considered by all enthusiasts to be the most important and influential metal band in Italy, but also abroad: indeed, Necrodeath have influenced a lot of groups that later became leaders in their genre (Cradle of Filth, Cannibal Corpse, Arch Enemy etc.). And now, twenty years later, what better way to honor this significant milestone than by releasing a celebratory collection?
The operation includes some of the group's best tracks, taken from their respective albums and in chronological order. It starts with Mater Tenebrarum from the dark Into The Macabre, and passes through now-cult tracks like Choose Your Death from Fragments of Insanity or At the Roots of Evil from the full-length Mater of All Evil, until reaching the latest works, namely Black as Pitch and Ton(e)s Of Hate from 2003.
The choice to include the entire The Shining Pentagram demo from distant 1985, now hard to find, is particularly fitting, featuring tracks with a dark charm that is difficult to find not only in the group's current production but in almost the entire current metal scene: four legendary songs.
Finally, the only previously unreleased track included is the cover Black Sabbath by the legendary English group, played in typical Necrodeath style.
Necrodeath is truly a piece of history of Italian metal, as demonstrated by the songs present in this well-deserved self-tribute. This best of is recommended to all those who are not yet familiar with the band and want to satisfy their curiosity, but also to the numerous fans who should not miss these twenty years of an esteemed career, marked by great albums and concerts, but also (and above all) by difficulties.
Long live Necrodeath and total support!!!
