It hasn't been long since the release of their excellent second album “Charged,” which came out in 2001 on Sub Pop (only in the USA) and Sweet Nothing in Europe, and already Nebula surprises us again with a tribute of special contours. In fact, 8 of these 11 tracks were originally released back in 1998 on two EPs, one being a split by Meteor City Records alongside Lowrider and “Sun Creature” by Mans Ruin Records. Now, 3 years later, they find the opportunity and time to unify the two EPs within 7 days, remastering 5 old tracks and recording 3 new ones. The final result is “Dos EP’s,” released in Europe just a few weeks ago. A must-have for Nebula collectors, especially for those who might not know the magical “Sun Creature,” and of course for all devotees of Kyuss and the Stonerrock genre. In reality, Nebula's characteristic sound goes well beyond the traditional boundaries of the genre, a bit like Q.O.T.S.A., so much so that they themselves define themselves as a High Energy Electro Blues Band, psychedelic warriors, and stray dogs of Rock 'n Roll. The Metal of Black Flag, the Blues of Jimi Hendrix, and the psychedelic Punk of Mudhoney are their matrices, electricity is the key, guitars are their weapons, and clubs are their relentless battlefield. “Dos EP’s” is in this sense the most representative collection of Nebula's style and for this reason, an everlasting and highly recommended album. My favorites: all of them! But still unbeatable are the 4 (Anything From You), the 6 (Fall of Icarus), the 7 (Smokin’ Woman), and the 11 (Back To The Dawn). Finally, also recommended is their website www.nebulamusic.com for numerous mp3s as well as the exclusive downloadable minibootleg, the latter with 5 live-recorded tracks at the Roskilde Festival of 2000. djd
