Judging an album like Sketches Of Reality is not particularly easy; primarily because it is a highly "intimate" work (if you'll allow me the term) and more generally because it is black metal with strong dark and depressive hues, thus absolutely not to be judged like other sounds.

This second full-length by Nae'blis, a one-man project led by Magnus Wohlfart (already a member of Yggdrasil and Folkearth, decidedly different projects) has the merit of being as direct and incisive as few, leaving plenty of room for emotions rather than the critical analysis of the technique with which it was composed, which is nonetheless very good for an album of this genre; every instrument is in its place, the melodic parts intertwine perfectly with wide bursts of nihilistic rage that permeate the entire album, making it a truly successful attack on the human race.
The four tracks offered are true anthems to inner discomfort, never lasting less than eleven minutes; yet they do not bore, being composed of a good mix of calm, reflective inserts and moments of raw anger spit out with fury without too many niceties.

The atmosphere that accompanies us throughout the album is therefore rendered very convincingly, which in a work of this type is very important; a step forward has been made from the previous Beyond The Light (about three years earlier), which in some cases became all too sweet and lacking in bite.

In short, it is a very convincing album and, in my opinion, free of flaws that would ruin the overall judgment of the work.

Highly recommended.
