LA RECENSIONE

A great album, both musical and political, mature and engaging.
The Pakistani-Norwegian singer-songwriter stays within alternative rock coordinates but emphasizes the social significance of her songs, focusing on important themes, from forced migration to the fascist tendencies that, increasingly alarmingly, leave politicians and ordinary people indifferent.
The music, as captivating as ever, ranges from indie-rock enriched with new wave echoes to intense ballads enhanced by electronic nuances.
One can feel a PJ Harvey purified from the blues roughness as well as some references to certain intellectual rock from the '80s, a bit like the Talking Heads but slightly less ethnic.
All the pieces are carefully constructed and arranged, always accompanied by excellent music that complements her evocative voice, with occasional appearances of a saxophone or an Andy Summers-style guitar.
Music that is both accessible and significant, structured without force, melodic yet always very deep.

Engaging and stimulating. Highly recommended.
